Sandy Chalmers - Reading Rockets 

Reading Rockets was founded by Sandy Chalmers in Dingley Village, Melbourne.  Sandy is a fully qualified Primary School Teacher with current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration and has taught in several Primary Schools in Melbourne.  She also has a Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching (CELTA) and many years experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) both in Melbourne and overseas in Japan and China.  She loves teaching Prep at the Primary School Level and was nominated for a National Excellence in Teaching Award (NEITA) as a Prep Teacher in 2005 and again in 2006.  Sandy has three children: twin boys aged 12 and a third son aged 9.

Jo Camalleri - Reading Rockets Aspendale Gardens

Jo is an extremely experienced and versatile teacher having taught both at the primary school level and as a secondary Physical Education (PE) teacher.  This is Jo's fourth year teaching Reading Rockets and she loves the great preparation it gives kids for school, having seen it first hand with her own children as they went through the program.  Jo is a mum to two kids now aged 8 and 6.

 

 

 

Nikki Cook - Reading Rockets Dingley

Nikki comes with a wealth of primary teaching experience having taught both in Australia and in England.  She is currently adding to her Bachelor of Education (Primary) degree by completing her Early Childhood studies this year too.  Nikki is an enthusiastic and passionate teacher who will be managing and taking the Reading Rockets classes in Dingley this year.  She is a mum to two young boys aged 3 and 1.

 

 

 

Claire Burns - Reading Rockets Berwick

Claire has completed a Bachelor of Education (Primary) majoring in Visual Arts from the University of Melbourne.  She spent six years at Dandenong South Primary School teaching Grades 2 and 4 before moving to Strathaird Primary School where she is currently employed. At Strathaird Primary, Claire has enjoyed teaching all year levels as the Visual Arts teacher. Claire is a mother of three children aged 9, 7 and 5.  Claire is now in her fourth year teaching Reading Rockets and her Home Studio in Berwick is the perfect set up for her classes.

Leonie Angelis - Reading Rockets Parkdale 

Leonie is a fully qualified Primary School Teacher and has been teaching at Beaumaris Primary School in Victoria since 2005.  She has lots of experience teaching Prep, Year 1, 2 and 3 students and also has extensive experience working with children with disabilities.  Leonie takes Reading Rockets classes at Parkdale two days a week as well as teaching two days a week at Beaumaris Primary School and she also manages to fit in some private tutoring as well.  Leonie has three children aged 10, 8 and 6.

Maureen Donnelly - Reading Rockets Mornington

Maureen has spent many years teaching primary and kindergarten aged children, both here in Australia and in Singapore.  She is a very natural and talented teacher who is in her second year of managing and teaching the Mornington Reading Rockets' classes.
